What is the MyanythingChristian IRC Bot?
This is a program designed to provide features for use within the channel rooms. The nickname of this bot is HolyBible and the features can be accessed with a variety of commands.
The Holy Bible
This is the main feature of the bot. It is used to easily post scripture in the channel room and includes many versions. To see a list of the versions that the bot has type !biblever. This will show you a list of all the versions supported.
So, how do you post scripture? How do you use this nifty feature? It's pretty easy, you just type in a simple command followed by the verse of scripture that you want to see. The command used is actually the abbreviation for the version that you want. In other words to see a scripture from the King James Version (KJV) you would simply type:
kjv john 3:16
This will bring up the verse John 3:16 from the King James Version. You can also post up to 4 verses at a time like this:
kjv john 3:16-19
It will only allow you to post 4 to avoid flooding the room with a bunch of scripture.
You can also pull up a daily Bible verse by using the command !daily It default to the New American Standard Bible (NASB) but you can see it in any of the supported versions by following the command with the version abbreviation. For example, !daily kjv, will show the daily verse in the King James Version.
Prayer Requests
The bot also has a list of prayer requests that anybody can view within the channel. To see a current list of prayer requests type !pray all. Anybody can add a prayer request, but only PastorBones can remove them (this keeps it where people can't remove prayer requests at liesure). To add a prayer request type !addpray . For example, !addpray Please pray for my financial situation. You do not have to leave a name as the system will automatically attach your nickname to the request. You can also call up a certain prayer request by typing in the command followed by the number of the prayer request you want to show, ie: !pray 2 or you can see a random one from the list by typing !pray
Sermons
This is a new feature of the bot and is still being developed at this time. It is used to provide sermons or Bible lessons to chatters. To view all the sermons available type !sermon all. Then to view a particular sermon type !sermon where is the number of the sermon you want to view. If you would like to add a sermon to the list, contact PastorBones (ME!) and let him know.
Quote
This is a very fun feature and one of my favorites (besides the Bible feature) because there are many good and some funny quotes within the database. To see a random quote type !quote. If you've found that you like, just remember the Quote number and you can call it up at anytime by typing !quote If you have a quote you'd like to see added to the database, again, contact PastorBones
Bible Trivia
So you like trivia? Test your Bible skills in the #Bibletrivia room! I have to warn you though...some of the questions are quite hard. Each time you answer a question right you are awarded points. You get 3 points if you answer before any hints are given, 2 points after the first hint and only 1 point after all the hints have been exhausted. There are only 400 or so questions at this point, but I will be adding more as the days go by. Have fun, study your Bible and I look forward to seeing you at the top of the point list!
Seen
This is a nifty little feature that allows you to see the last time a person was active in the room. Just type !seen and the bot will let you know the last time he has "seen" that person. Try 'seeing' yourself and you'll get a funny reply.
